March activities in Horse Cave

Hello from Horse Cave. I am way behind on the blog posts, but I thought I would correct that today.

Our Recipe Club is going strong! The next meeting will be April 4th. We will be featuring Soups and Salads. Please call 786-2009 if you would like to sign up for the next class, or email myscraphappy@scrtc.com. Our book is really growing. There are still a few kits for the Appetizer section available, if you want to catch up. Denise Branstetter, Mrs. Delores Reed, and Ms. JoAnne Smith have done a lot of extra pages with good recipes and fun layouts. One of us will be around to help you if you would like all the extras. I will post some photos of these books later this week.

This weekend on March 28th, we will be doing a class on altered paint cans. Class time is 2:00, and we will finish (I hope!) by 4:00. Please bring your regular scrapping tools: paper trimmer, straight edge with craft knife and cutting mat, adhesive/Xyron, etc.

These are just so cute! Mrs. Delores Reed made this beautiful paint can for a wedding shower -- she then enclosed a very nice gift. This is an original design from Mrs. DR, using white cardstock, glitter paper and embellishments. She scalloped the edges of the corset with a Fiskar template, then used a hole punch to make the holes for lacing ribbon and tulle. If you can't see it in the pic, she brought the tulle to the back to form a bustle. Also, Mrs. DR made a card using the Cricut with Potpourri Basket to cut the Bride and Groom. The heart-shaped embellishment is made from tiny crystals. After the shower, the bride can keep all her cards, ribbons, and other memorabilia in the can. I'm sure she will consider it a keepsake. Great job, Mrs. DR!

At the class this weekend, we will be working on the garden paint can shown above. Also, we will have an example of a layout using the same elements if you would rather make a page for your book. The cost of the class is $10, which will include everything you need to finish this project. Please call or email to register -- this class will be limited to ten people. If you would like to personalize your page, please let us know what monogram or letters you would like cut.

There are some cute bunny and Easter egg die cuts already made at the shop, and an Easter layout. The paint pails will make a perfect Easter basket. We are also working on some spring sports pages -- baseball and tennis. Maybe even golf!

Don't forget to subscribe to this blog. Hope to see you this weekend, swr
